I will overwhelm 'legitimate combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua is set to fight Jake Paul in an eight-round match which will be broadcast live on the streaming platform.

British boxer Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "defeat" his opponent as the combatants came face-to-face to promote the upcoming bout.

Former two time unified title holder Joshua meets YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a huge disparity - at Miami Kaseya Center on December 19th.

Boxer's Attitude

"I'm going to break his face and damage his physique. I'm here to prove my superiority," the British boxer, 35 years old, said.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.

"I will really want to hurt him. That's what I want to do."

Civil Interaction

Despite those words, a relaxed Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - usually famous for his showmanship - were respectful and maintained decorum with each other.

Paul instead targeted ex Joshua opponent the Cameroonian fighter and called him "a joke" after the Cameroonian rejected a match opportunity.

Taking Aim at Fury

Anthony Joshua, at the same time, criticized UK rival Fury - and declined a large bet 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a Paul victory.

"Jake Paul outshines Fury - he's present here," the boxer stated.

"I respect him for that."

Serious Opponent

Despite saying he intends to hurt Jake Paul, Anthony Joshua declined to speak negatively about his rival's fighting skills.

"Jake is a legitimate boxer," he said.

Paul's History

Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has primarily boxed MMA fighters or past-their-prime fighters since turning professional.

He lost to Briton Fury in last year.

Financial Attraction

However, the inexperienced fighter continues to be one of boxing's biggest money-making draws, regularly earning massive paydays.

Prediction and Belief

The 28 year old forecast a KO victory in round four or five and claimed he would prevent the long-awaited Fury-Joshua bout, which is allegedly being planned for 2026.

"The next fight will be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Jake Paul declared.

Physical Difference

As Joshua and Paul engaged in the customary confrontation, with their size difference on show, it drove home just how improbable this whole event is - and how astonishing it is that the fight is really proceeding.
